Rope delivery

Aratuna Freighters bought some mooring rope for us to use as garden edging and to mark the paths in the fort. We went out to watch the men unload the truck. We have since discovered that there were skinks living in the rope and with Trevors help we have made them a home in our school grounds. The rope looked like strings of spaghetti as it was lifted form the truck.

Wala

We had a group from Ghana come to school. It was called Wala. Wala means 'life'. They played the drums and danced. Their drums all had different names. They made the teachers get up and dance too. We liked that.

Our Concert

Korora showed some awesome talent at our in class concert. With the help of the lovely Miss Price we have been learning the ukulele. Some chose to showcase their talent in an informal concert today.

Using our iPads to learn

Today we were able to find our projects on Explain Everything and continue working on them. We have learned how to use the camera to take a photo, and were able to use the lasso tool to cut it out. Then we got to use the stylus to write on our project. Mrs Hickford and Mrs Minehan think we are very clever!

We are so lucky!

Mrs Hickford's husband made a weta hotel for us so we can visit the weta's. We are going to decorate it and make a sign. The sign will tell  others know how to look after the weta before we plant it in the school grounds ready for it's new guests.

Jared:  There are 11 types of Giant Weta and 70 different species

Ava: Weta like the dark

Isla:  That means they are nocturnal

Connor: They sleep during the day time

Zoe:  Weta like damp places

Olivia: The girls are bigger  than the boys

Opal: They have an exoskeleton

Lucas: That means their bones are over their skin

Elizabeth: They eat wood and insects

Jahzarn: Cats, rats and hedgehogs eat weta

Amber:  They put their back legs over their head when they are grumpy

Xahria: The females lay eggs in the ground

Micah: To make a weta house for a tree weta we got a piece of bamboo

Hunter: We cut the bamboo above the ring so the house had a roof

Liam  We use wire to make a hanger
